markopolo: Interesting. I had thought about using relays controlled by Victron monitors to switch between systems but this would seem to eliminate that entirely. A few questions:

Was your reduction in the OP's lithium bank due to his desire to use existing 6ga wiring?

Does one have to resize the charging component of the system when adding additional battery storage. At what point do you have to upgrade single alternator? How do you calculate the necessary output of the shore charger?

This IS an interesting discussion. For me the idea of a hybrid would be weight and, from what I've read, the depth of Lithium discharge and the speed of recharging. I have a single decent LifeLine and when that eventually goes would probably replace with lithium and eliminate any hybrid system.

1 - Yoshi mentioned that he was planning to use one Battleborn battery.
2 - Theoretically yes but I think most folks going from 100Ah to 200Ah just use existing charger.
3 - You'd add or upgrade an alternator if continuous high output is needed. Yoshi's RV already has a 2nd alternator. Using a DC to DC charger makes a single alternator solution viable.
4 - Lifeline recommends at least 20 Amps per 100 Ah battery. I didn't see a recommendation from Battleborn.
