Default Surge protection

I’m thinking about purchasing a surge protector for my 2017 PW Ascent and I’ve noticed the big difference in price. Does anyone know if I need to spend $$$$?

Not for 'surge protection', and then diminishing returns set in, ymmv.

Likely the best buy unless you must have with RV in the front of the name. Compare specs. https://images.homedepot-static.com/...35fe7a9f9c.pdf

+1. The Leviton device is by far the best value and also has better specs than any of the RV-specific surge suppressors that I have seen.

But, do you want just "surge" protection, or do you also want "low/high" voltage protection?

Many high-quality inverter/chargers have that kind of thing (plus line frequency, polarity checking, ground/neutral wiring, etc) built into them. Lots of people pay needlessly for fancy features that they already have.

And, even if you do need and want to add these features, they can often be had in relatively inexpensive devices, which you can combine with the Leviton device and end up with superior protection for less total money.

My only real point is that this market is crafted to encourage people to throw money at features they often don't really understand, counting on the assumption that if it is more expensive it must be better.
