Default Separator issue with 80A auto reset circuit breaker

Charging from the alternator in my 09C190P was not taking place when engine was running. Bring to troubleshoot the problem, I found the issue was a failed set of circuit breakers between the alternator and the main or vehicle side of the separator. I'm not replacing them, but unsure how the circuit breakers should be installed.

Its a pair of 40A in parallel that is installed on the engine firewall. The new ones have markings for AUX and BATT, the old ones do not. They both have long posts and shorter posts. Should I go by the post lengths (matching old and new), or by the markings BAT and AUX.

My assumption is the Alternator is the source and should be connected to the BAT post, and the Separator is the load and should be connected to the AUX post. Does that sound correct?

Thanks for any help.
