Default Rooftop Marker lights - accessing the wiring

1998 Pleasure way. I have a few marker lights that are out and while I can live with that, I'm currently installing a wireless backup camera and wanted to tap into the marker lights to power the backup camera. The camera draws 0.5 amps, so I'm not concerned about overloading the circuit. Removing the marker light give me a single half inch hole to access the wires, and they disappear into the roof immediately. How do you get to the backside? Does the entire interior trim need to come out? If I pull the air conditioner does that give me access to the wiring?
