Default Roadtrek Etrek Voltstart Issues

I have a new 2018 Etrek that is having issues with Voltstart. I am following the instructions to the letter but no start. All doors shut, switch on, light comes on, exit within 15 sec, etc. I tried the Roadtrek help and they are sending me to a repair facility. That’s not close. So, I’m wondering if anyone has tips for rebooting that system or troubleshooting.

Also, I read that this van should have remote start (part of Voltstart) but I can’t find that referenced anywhere in the Sprinter manual or the Etrek Owner’s manual. What’s the story with that?

Thanks

Remote start on a Sprinter is not a factory option so it is not in the owners manual. The Sprinter remote start is done trough the PSM (Parametric Special Module) and must be setup by the after market upfitter, Roadtrek in your case.

Some basic info on PSM at this link....

Turn off Voltstart. Start engine. Turn engine off. Close all the doors. Press the remote door lock button 3 times. Does it start? If not, then the remote start is not working. If that doesn't work then the Voltstart won't work.
if that works, with Voltstart off, turn engine on and off to make sure everything is reset. Turn on Voltstart (green light is on). Close all the doors. Press lock button 3 times. Engine should start and Voltstart should be engaged. Engine should run about 1/2 hour and shut off. If this works then Voltstart is probably working. Only real way to tell is to have a load running when you do this to see if it restarts the engine after the batteries run down.

Default Parking brake

Does the parking brake need to be engaged in order to use Voltstart?

No, but I never leave an unattended vehicle running without setting the brake.
