Default Replacing two 6-volt with two 12-volt batteries?

I've got a 2008 Roadtrek Adventurous (Sprinter) with two house, 6-volt, golf cart batteries under the hood. That's where Roadtrek keeps them. I need to replace them. Thinking of getting two 12-volt AGM's and connecting in parallel, as opposed to series. Anyone got suggestions, or done this?
Thanks in advance,
-David

Two 6 volt deep cycle AGMs will have a longer life. An advantage of the 12 volt option would be redundancy if one fails.

The question would be why you want to? GC batteries generally do a better job at deep cycling than 12v batteries, although with AGM some are said to be the same.

Any battery under the hood are going to have shorter life than elsewhere because of the heat, and some say AGMs are more affected than wet cells.
