I'm not 100% sure of the connection but for 30 amp the cord needs to be 10 gauge and the connector contact points should be clean and fit tight. Dirty or loose fitting plugs of any type will run hot. Also how many amps are you actually pulling? Wires will get warm when consistently puling the max.

Thanks to all for your comments. I ordered a smart plug replacement. It will be here Monday.
I talked with two RV tech at our local RV dealer that sells and services many RV with this time of electrical connection. They have replaced several mainly because of the plug not being tighten when installed.
I also determined the amps required to run each 120 volt item. I was surprised at the amps draw for various items. This will allow us to not to unconsciously over load the electrical system.

Congratulation and enjoy it. Mounting holes pattern is the same as twisted connectors so installation should be easy. The blue indicator is great to quickly verify power presence.
