Default Noco Genius 5 Charger Red Light

I have 3 new AGM batteries. A 12-volt starter battery and 2, 6-volt deep cycle batteries wired in series or parallel.

I check the batteries with a cigarette socket monitor, and they're always above 12.42.
The battery switch on the monitor panel is switched off and the Tripp Lite switch is set to “DC Off”. The van is not plugged in to an outlet.

The system has a separator, so I assume both the 6-volt and 12-volt batteries are charged at the same time?

Nearly every morning I check, the brand new Noco Genius 5 has shut off with the led showing a solid red, bad battery, error. I turn it back on, it quickly shows fully charged and stays on for the rest of the day. A couple of times it has shut off during the day. The charger is plugged into its own outlet.

Any ideas?

Always thanks to all for giving your time to this wonderful forum!

Solving RV 12 volt electrical problems without a shunt based battery monitor is like driving at night without headlights.

Bogart has one that mounts to the wall, Victron has one that mounts in a hole.

I would assume all the batteries are charged through the separator.

Assuming that no parts are faulty, I'd try using the "12V Mode" (14.5V) instead of the "12V AGM Mode" (14.8V) if you are currently using "12V AGM Mode".

The Sure Power Separator draws 1.5A and that will use up any surface charge quickly when changing from Absorption to later stages. If the NOCO is monitoring the voltage pulldown at Step 8 (Optimization) it might see the rate of drop as being a potential problem.

The rate of voltage drop using "12V Mode" should be a bit less than if using "12V AGM Mode".

You'll hear a clicking or clunking sound if the Separator is cycling on & off.

It's a long shot but easy to try.
