Default no fuel to Onan

Onan float bowl is dry-no fuel. before I change the fuel filter was wondering where to look on the '99 Road Trek for a fuel line shut off valve (if any). previous owner says he used the gen very little and its been sitting since 2005.
Fresh gas to engine but I fear that its varnish at the Onan. dp

Welcome to the forum deep!

Basic first question is, since the onan fuel tube is designed to prevent it from stranding you by draining the gas tank dry, do you have more than 1/3 tank of of that fresh fuel you mention?

Yours is a story told a thousand times, onan generator varnished up by lack of use.

is your gas tank full?

most RV's have the genny fuel pick up at about 1/3 level in the gas tank ( that way you can't strand yourself in the boonies running the genny).

My pleasureway has a petcock inline with the fuel line ( 1/4" rubber hose) just inboard of the front of the left rear tire - I can reach through and grab it

I don;t know if R/T offers same

if that's the issue, get some gas in the tank and crank 'er up

on purchase my big service

change oil

disconnect fuel line at petcock

spray carb cleaner down hose...let sit 1 hour

3 parts gas to 1 part seafoam in peanut butter jar, (hole in lid large enough for fuel line)

use syringe to push mix down fuel line wait 1 hour

with jar supported on box and fuel line through hole in lid submerged

crank genny

no more than 15 seconds and then let starter cool for a minute... a few cycles and sputters and it started up

let run until you see voltage and then use AC or other to load the genny

It sounds suspiciously like a bad fuel pump to me.
