I sure hope so, current technology is getting better, but obviously still has some worts no matter which version is used.

Not sure there is a much worse spot to put house batteries than under the hood in the Sprinter at least if you want to keep them cool...

Don't hold your breath, remember how long it took for Lithium batteries to make it to the average consumer for RV,motorcycle, auto battery? I had to dis-assemble Dewalt battery packs to get cells years ago to use the new technology in my motorcycles.

Stumbled across this bit of info in a Caravan Salon Dusseldorf 2016 report:

Google Translate

the (optional) "EcoTrek" was advertised system as innovative, a new modular on Lithim-ion technology battery system that is located under the vehicle and to a maximum of 800 (!) ampere-hours can be upgraded. It is held by a "climate system" at temperatures between -40 ° C and + 120 ° C in the operating temperature necessary to retain its best storage properties.
The photo near that entry showed the undermount A/C so it's a bit of a guess as to what is being discussed. 120C = 248F! -40C = -40F

My guess is they meant -40 F to +120 F, but since metric is so commonly used they made a typo.

Yes, -40 is -40. It's cold.
