I believe it is to connect the coach battery to the converter/charger.

Some coaches need that switch on to charge from shore power. Lots don't need it on. If you have an RT then the Simulator -> http://metrotrekkers.org/utility/electrical.htm <- is a handy tool.

Cool tool

In the simulator it appears the physical "Battery disconnect" switch contacts (not depicted) reside inside the "Monitor Panel" block in the simulators schematic?

And the "Battery disconnect" appears to be effective regardless of whether it is activated prior to or after plugging to shore/gen power?

So the warning label in the Coach to activate that switch "prior to connecting" would seem to be to preclude current from arcing the contacts if actuated after appling shore power/genset and it appears that leaving the switch in disconnected position (though unstated) is the method to prevent unneeded coach battery charging if the onboard inverter were being used.
(Prevents self-insemnation )?

SO, if on inverter, do not activate batteries.(switch off)
AND, if going on to Gen/Shore power, activate batteries firstly.(switch on)
Yes? ?
