Default Generator (onan) only runs if main engine on

Have a 1998 leisure travel widebody on a dodge frame. My generator will only start if the main engine is running have 2 new batteries for the house and a new battery for the main engine. The generator works fine until I turn off the coach engine. Ant help would be great

We have had several with that problem. We think the generator is missing the ground when not connected to the engine battery but no one with the problem has let us know what the cause or solution was. It could be the 12 volt line is interrupted with the engine off. The generator requires an external 12 volt source to run.

It has always been on Sprinters. Let us know when you solve it.

I am thinking I will call the company that built this wide body and see what they have to say I can't even get it into a repair shop for a few weeks
