I concur, VIP.
And the Spark Plug condition at the Gap/Electrode & the seating of the Cap.
Also try starting the Generator when the Chassis Engine has been running for 15 minutes - sometimes the Generator & older batteries need all the help it can get juice wise if it hasn't been running.
Plus some people have suggested, that there can be a vacuum issue if it's been sitting for a while.
Also check that the fuse is firmly planted in its Receptacle.
Worse case scenario; you have to take it to a Onan Generator specialist or do what I do, take it to a Lawnmower shop, 1/3rd of the price, same engine.
