Default Dodge w/wipers inoperative?

My windshield wipers on my Dodge Ram Van Roadtrek quit 2 summers ago, just as I was preparing to leave on a cross country trip. I traced the problem to a corroded ground at the wiper motor mount that has a brass ring designed to provide the ground. I cleaned up the mount and associated hardware and figured I was good to go. However, as I was transiting through a thunderstorm a few weeks later, the wipers became intermittent, stopping for 10 minutes or so. We were stopped at my sister's house the next day, so I took the time to run a wire from the ground terminal on the wiper motor to a ground stud on the firewall. This, of course, cured the problem. I should have installed the ground wire when I first found the problem. It might be a good idea for anyone with an older Dodge to take a few minutes and put in the ground wire.
