Default Cool Cat A/C and Easy Start

Starting a 12,000/10,000 BTU (depends on year) Dometic Cool Cat A/C with an Onan 2.8 generator has always been a heart stopping event as the generator almost dies then picks up and continues. With the Easy Start it snorts once as the throttle opens up and keeps going without the major rpm drop, a much improved situation.

The installation is a bitch. The A/C unit must be removed from the back of the Roadtrek to get access to the wiring and the Easy Start unit must be mounted beside the unit on the wall within the area made for the A/C unit. There is just enough room.

There is already a taped over 1/2" diameter opening to use to get the four wires into the control area. All you need is a 1/2" grommet.

I don't have a Honda EU2000i but if I ever get a chance to plug into one I'll let you know if it will start and run it.

Second time around you could do it in four hours. Took me three days with a lot of belly scratching time and some "I don't want to play this game" time.

I didn't post the "gotcha's" in the install because the number of people willing to pull an A/C unit out to install an Easy Start is probably limited to one-me.

Hmm, my 2800 doesn't struggle that much when I turn on the AC. The RPM does decrease a bit but it ramps back up quickly and carries the load with no problem.

"My 2800 doesn't struggle"

Maybe your generator motor is better than my motor. Maybe a "tune up" is due. Thanks for the data point.
