Default Broken Battery Disconnect Switch - GWV

Anyone have any experience with repairing or replacing a switch like this? Asking before I begin to disassemble panels to get to the guts/wires. I think the switch has been twisted in the wrong direction many times and the black piece finally broke off.

I can't seem to find any switches with this type of round outer housing.

Dave,

You may be able to replace it with a Blue Sea battery switch, which come in at least two physical sizes (https://www.bluesea.com/products/cat...ttery_Switches). You can get them cheaper than list price on eBay, PKYS, Amazon, etc..

Good luck, Dick

Be careful with this one. Not sure how your system is designed but on my 2018 the battery side of this switch only goes through a 150 amp short stop before the battery itself.

Have a fire extinguisher handy and wear rubber gloves, and if you don't know what your doing, don't do it.

Thanks Dick, I was hoping to replace it with the same type that was in there so I didn't have to do any modifications. I do like the Blue Sea product. The switch I'm looking at has 3 different configurations for the installation. One of which is a flush mount that I would use if I can make it fit.

Did you research Cole-Hersee products (now a division of littlefuse)? They used to have switches that were round. I now use a Bluesea 2 battery switch in my sprinter and have been happy with that. 20 years ago, all of our ambulances and rescue trucks had cole-hersee switches when I was in the business. Good luck.

Default Update: new switch and new location

I installed a new switch while I had the propane take removed. (it was blocking my access) I think the old one broke because it was made to turn only one way but there was no indication of which way to turn it and eventually it broke from being turned the wrong way.

I moved the location of the new switch so it wasn't right in the center of where we normally walk in. I also labeled it so we would be sure to turn it in the right direction.

I now place a piece of a pool floatie over the switch to protect it from being kicked or stepped on.
