Default 12 volt lead into cabin for tv antenna how much power draw

Hi all, I have an 05 190 popular on a Chevy. There is a wire lead into the entertainment cabinet. It powers the antenna for the tv. How much can I draw from the circuit? Anyone know?

Hi TC8,

I have the same B and have wondered. I only use it for a 12 volt battery meter, virtually no power required. I decided to not use any 12 volt stuff in that cabinet. Hopefully someone will answer your question, but if not what I was going to do was power up the tv using the roof ant and amp. Then pull each 12 volt fuse and check what happens.

Or give Roadtrek a call since it does not appear in the manual.

Likely 5 amps for a TV power line. Do you have any unknown breakers that you can shut off and then check for power to that line?

Check the wire gauge. The antenna amplifier draws about 150-200 milli amperes so the circuit may have only a 1 or 2 amp fuse and be wired with #16 AWG. If the wire is larger, say #12 or 14 you could safely fuse it for 10 or 15 amps which would be sufficient to power a LCD TV/DVD player without any problem. Most small LCD TV combos draw less than 5 amperes.
