when I want to post pics, I use photobucket

makes it pretty easy.

once the pic is uploaded there you click on the share link and paste into a post as I have above-

For google drive,

you have to share the photo to the public,

then right click on the photo to grab the picture address,

then paste it in the img icon

eg.

If you are using the Chrome browser,
Try this:

Or...I use photobucket ( free)- upload a pic to PB.

select the pic and it will give options to share the pic...

basically you cut and paste the url and on each end of it is code that tells the internet it is an image...an "img"

easy-ish

this approach will work all across the internets

The Bears Ears in Southern Utah have today become protected-

I also tried that and struck out (Chrome on Mac). On Google Drive I selected a pic and then share and copy link. Here's the results:

Let's see.

What you have is a link to the webpage.

You need to capture the image address.

I don't know how to capture the image address in a Mac.

As an alternative, what you can do is to simply post the link to your photo page
instead of using the image icon.

eg.

At least in Safari, if you CONTROL-click on an image, it will give you a contextual menu that usually includes an item "Copy Image Address". You can then paste it into the "Insert Image" dialog.

Ok, i'll try again

I found out why it worked this morning and not last night.

on a mac w/chrome

control click ( that's our version of right click) and select COPY IMAGE ADDRESS

then in new reply window click on the icon what looks like mtns.

the dialog window has a default "http" etc in the box already....DELETE THAT and paste in your copied image address
( this is where I messed up last night)

and it should work.

that will work to capture and use an image already on the web ( which has an image address)...but if the image is your own and on you computer, usephotobucket in the manner I described earlier.

Thanks- I learned something

...btw the post above with what looks like a broken link has same "http://https://" problem I had last night

It is not you being dumb... this computer thing is convoluted.

eg.
I copied your link above and pasted it into my chrome browser,
the browser re-parsed it into a different address.
I don't know why.

If you click on the "Quote" button below, you can see the difference in the addresses.
