Re: Visited States or Provinces Map
We've also been to most of the US State Capitals in those States included as "visited" on the US map.
In total, we've been inside 40 of the Capitol buildings since we started the (insane) State Capitol tour just over
a year and a half ago. We missed getting inside some because of time of day, and weekends, but we hope to get
them all eventually. On our last road trip, we cleaned up the western ones with visits to, and got inside Phoenix,
Cheyenne, and Lincoln. We still haven't been inside Baton Rouge, Atlanta, Lansing, Boston, and Indianapolis. For
reasons mostly of timing.
We haven't been to Annapolis, Raleigh, Juneau, Dover, Honolulu, and Trenton. Yet. (Honolulu may be a challenge
in the van)
Or Washington, DC, which will probably be our finale (we'll include it, because apparently it's dysfunctional, like me).
On a percentage basis, we've been to more US States than Canadian provinces or Mexican States. I find that odd.

Re: Visited States or Provinces Map
People maintain visited states and provinces many ways. Some only record them if they actually camped, some record them if they have been there via any method be it RV, car or fly. The visited states map I use in my signature on RV.net is of states I've been to in our Class B RVs, not necessarily camped in because some of the smaller states we have passed through numerous times with little opportunity to camp but many opportunities to visit places. In our Class Bs we have visited 43 states. In all circumstances we have visited every state except Hawaii and we have visited British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec. For instance last year we hit 26 states but we did not count North Dakota and Manitoba when we drove up to Winnipeg in a car to see our B under conversion.
Mike, Good luck getting to Juneau in your B too. Washington DC visit wise, politics aside, is a great place to visit. We get there about twice a year mainly because our daughter lives there. Despite that we have only scratched the surface of seeing everything there.

Re: Visited States or Provinces Map
Mike - let's make a deal. I'll pick up a Juneau sticker for you if you pick up a Honolulu sticker for me. We're headed up that way on our motorcycles this summer, DV.

Re: Visited States or Provinces Map
Hmmmm, interesting offer, let me think about it for a bit?
No.
Seriously, when do you plan to be up there in ANWR land?
What's the best month or two to go? I'd guess July/August, but the crowds have got to be thick then.

Re: Visited States or Provinces Map
We expect to leave Edmonton in mid June. Right now I'm googling black fly and mosquito clothing and nets.

Re: Visited States or Provinces Map
Interesting. We met a Florida couple in Lethbridge at the welcome centre back in October.
They'd been up there since May/June in a class A with toad. They were on their way home.
I asked about bugs, and they said they didn't really notice that many. I mentioned the reports
of huge bugs, and they said they heard the same, but they weren't that bad. Maybe it was an
unusual season for them?

Re: Visited States or Provinces Map
I'd like to jump in here with my question about the Stewart/Cassiar Hwy in B.C.
We plan to leave Ariz. after July 4th this summer. Hope to go North to Watson Lake on the Cassiar. Then back to Prince George on Hwy 97 (Alaska Hwy). Will be driving our '02 RoadTrek 190V. I'm in process of getting all maintenance/service completed this winter. Will start with NEW tires & 2 spares. I'll tape the headlights & skylights on the van. We'll plan to boondock some as necessary, Provincial parks as avail. & RV parks occasionally. We (just 2) are experienced travelers, campers & somewhat adventurous.
So, my ?? what was last years condition of the Cassiar? And what can we expect/prepare for this year? Any help, advice, recommendations are welcome. Thanks, Ric.
BTW - how do I paste & fill the States/Prov. Map on this thread?

Re: Visited States or Provinces Map
Below and to the left of this text input window (when logged in and replying to a post, or editing one of
your existing ones) there are 2 tabs, one is "Options" and the other is "Upload attachment".
Use the latter, and browse to where ever you've saved your updated States Visited Maps. Open them one at
a time and add them to your edit or reply.
I'm also curious about the "shrapnel" situation on the highways "up thar".
A guy I know had a custom screen built/welded to cover his headlights and grille. I thought that was over
the top, but after reading your prep tasks, I'm wondering if I can afford the deductible on the damages????

Re: Visited States or Provinces Map
Looks like it's working.
I'm sending Sarah Palin an email asking about the roads up yonder.
Standby.
btw, I love AZ as a destination, particularly the north end of the State.

Re: Visited States or Provinces Map
Uh Mike, I think Sarah P. is at her Scottsdale house next door to my son. We have NO winter in AZ. I live in the Prescott Area @ 5,000 ft. No snow here since early Dec. Now in 50s & 60s F.
Thanks for the help with map attachment.
Tell me about your R/T... We have '02 190V on Chev. chassis. Like it but, trying to improve fuel economy, handling & road clearance. What have you done on Yours? Ric.

Ric; Ref your question on conditions on the Cassiar Hwy:
There's a website that provides the info you're looking for:

Damn, I forgot she bought a property in AZ, probably to get away from that paparazzi guy that moved in
next door to them in Wasilla.
I've done a lot less on mine than some of the other forum members (Booster and Photog) have done to theirs.
They're the suspension and handling guys. See more on lifting a Chev based Roadtrek on this link.
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1616
Most of the stuff I've done is just general wear and tear stuff, some electrical, having had to replace my isolator,
and I did all the incandescent coach lights with LED energy efficient ones. I added 2 AGM batteries and had an
alarm/remote starter added for convenience, swapped in and mounted a flat screen low consumption LED HD
TV, and had a set of Michelin AT2 (off road type) tires installed for less than optimum road surfaces, which I
travel up here and elsewhere at times. I've also added a manual satellite TV dish mounting system, to get TV
on the road.
There are some RV renewable energy users on here, and many others have done some interesting and some
unusual mods to their vans over the last 3.5 years that I've been a member of this forum. Check the appropriate
sub categories on here, when you have some time. Many have added pics of their mods.
My next adventure in Roadtrek RV mods may be an engine rebuild to stroke the stock 350 out to a 383 for more
hill climbing power. We tend to travel in the mountains a lot, and I am not satisfied with the torque and power
available from the factory mill. I contacted a shop on the border of Oakville and Mississauga Ontario and had a
lengthy discussion with the boss, and it looks like it might coast a few bucks, but they're confident they can get
some more push out of the 350 block with a few mods like pistons, crank, rods, cams, etc..
So that's where my van sits now. Actually it's in my driveway and the latest snowfall here is now gone as we got up
to almost 50F today. Life's good.
