Default Shopping trip to Maine

We took a quick get-a-way trip to Maine in mid March to visit Freeport and Kittery and look for bargains at the Outlet stores. The sales at the Timberland outlet in Freeport were unbeatable. Clearance items were 70% off combined with a buy one get one free! The specials change weekly. There are deals to be had a both places but Freeport has that "town" or "village" ambiance that we really liked. Many of the outlet stores are in converted old buildings.

We took the car this time but they will become regular stops on our van travels. I'm LL Bean has a parking lot for RV's where you can stay the night and so does the Kittery Trading Post. We were lucky with the weather - maybe as warm as 60F some days in mid March. It was not busy at all but I bet it would be in the Summer.

There are tolls when you exit and enter I95 around there. Set your Garmin GPS to avoid toll roads if you'll be doing a lot of exploring. The nice thing about the toll roads was that they were not busy.

My wife loves the LL Bean store and we have to visit every time we're on the east coast.

It's nice along there even in summer, which is when we have traveled that area. I think there's a way
you can get vouchers (like bus transfers) when you exit the toll sections which allow you to continue
on without paying twice, but I may be wrong about that. Maybe someone else knows what I'm talking
about here?
We didn't use it, as we weren't doing a lot of off/on the toll road, but I'm pretty sure it can be done.
Also, if you stay on I-95 south through to the Boston area, there's a short section of maybe just a few
mile, possibly where it crosses New Hampshire, where you pay a $2 toll for about 10 miles of road.
