Default Metal Detecting

What I am trying to do is find places that will allow metal detecting. I am not looking for pirate treasure or battle field articles. I enjoy just finding a quarter or an old hot wheels or what have you. Anyone else doing this? The states have some funcky laws about metal detecting.

Default Re: Metal Detecting

Last year I picked my first metal detector, a Fisher F2. I keep it in the van in case I stop in any interesting areas. I've been to a few public parks and beaches in northeastern Illinois, but nowhere I'd really recommend.

I go out early in the morning and try to leave the spots better than I found them. That includes remove any garbage I dig up and making sure any holes are filled and hidden.
