Default Lincoln Trail State Park, Marshall, IL

Any info about Lincoln Trail State Park, Marshall, IL? Went to my usual haunts: RV Park Reviews, RVthereyet, and CampRate and found nothing newer than Aug 2010. Want to stop there on our way home to StL, MO some time in the last couple of weeks of Sept, and would like to get some current info. Will be driving our new Sportsmbile "B", so size won't be an issue. No pull thru's needed just need electric and a nice place to camp, preferably with nice showers. Probably only be a night or two, as we won't have the full complement of gear on this maiden voyage.

Or a nice place approximately half way between StL & Huntington, IN? Always open to an alternative route! Open for suggestions and advice.

Thanks

gar & mar

I know nothing about that place but you may try posting on rv.net forum and Sportsmobile forum, but if you decide to go please report back here.I looked at the website for the park just a small pic of a very small stretch of lake.Very lame but rest assured the state is probably paying top dollar for the website.SHEESH!!!1

Will let you know if we stop there. All of a sudden our schedule had gotten pretty crammed. You know as they say, "Best laid plans of mice & Men, etc" but thanks for the reply. We gotta keep this board active. Far to many B people out there to be saddled on a "A" or "C" board, whose definition of "Camping" is to pull in with a 40" rig and never step outside. We sleep in our B and everything else is outside. Don't want no stinking parking lot that's called a campground.
Sorry about the rant. Just had to vent.
Will get back to you.

Well it went just as I figured. Planned a route and even had a couple of options, and what do you know! Went an entirely different way. Picked up our new Sportsmobile and severe weather was the forecast to the local area. "High winds and large damaging hail" was the prediction for upper and lower Indiana, so we opted for a middle route and managed to skirt the most of the storms. So we never made Lincoln Trail State Park. Did stop in on the way up there for a quick look and wasn't very impressed. Nice for an over nighter. Clean and quiet with nice facilities.
We ended up staying at Turkey Run SP in Indiana to ride out the storm. Very nice park with nice facilities and a wonderful Lodge for good and very reasonably priced meals. Got there Friday slightly after noon and got one of the last sites. Very, very crowded, but we headed out Saturday and on to Fox Ridge SP in Illinois. Another real nice park. Large sites with trees and brush between the site for added privacy. Clean facilities, but the strangest showers I've seen. Hold the handle up for water. The longer you hold it the hotter it gets. Let go of it and the water stops. Interesting at best. But all in all the park was very nice and will go back there again.

We have stayed in Turkey Run State Park campground numerous times. Hope you tried some of the hiking trails. They are really great. It is about as virgin of a forest you will find in the Midwest. There are two 19th Century wooden covered bridges that flank both ends of the park. We were there in the spring of 2011 trying to dodge tornadoes coming through the area. The winds picked up but we came away unscathed. I go back with Turkey Run SP some 50 years. We had our high school senior after the prom picnic there.
