2012 Visit to Glacier Nat'l Park & Surrounding Area

I'm looking for suggestions on what to see other than the park in the Western part of Montana. I'll be going in July, probably. I've found a list of wonderful waterfalls to visit, but does anyone have other things, like towns or museums they can recommend?

Check the status of construction on the Going to the Sun roadway which is the main route through
the park. A section of it was closed about halfway through, so we were only able to do the stretch
from St. Mary in from the east. Actually, it may not have been road work, but they gave priority
to construction equipment when we were there last month. We sat at a checkpoint with flag person
for 20 minutes before we decided to turn around and continue south to Yellowstone.
We enjoyed what we saw, though. Reminded us of Yosemite, and the eastern access road way into
Yellowstone from Cody, WY.

At the west gate to Glacier there is Glacier raft trips, we took the half day 35.00. Also if you really want to see Glacier
take one of the helicopter rides, they're located outside the park on the westside.

What class are the rapids on the raft trips or are they of the more scenic type?
