Default Goodyear Aware of G159 Tire Failures

Goodyear Knew Of Dangerous RV Tire Failures For Over 20 Years: Court Docs

Apparently, Goodyear has known about failure at highway speeds of its G159 tires. Interesting article. No recalls yet.

There won't be any recalls. This is a long term litigation matter. The Goodyear G159 tires in question were 275/70R 22.5 tires for class A motorhomes. They haven't made them since 2003.

Thanks for the clarification.

The article stated that although the probe focused on tires made between 1996 and 2003, Goodyear has received claims at least up to 2015 and states that the tires are still on the road today.

Is that size tire strictly limited to Class As? It didn't seem uncommon to me, but I'm not an expert.

If you want to read more about this there was a link in the first article to a longer story by Jalopnik. Here is link:
https://jalopnik.com/how-goodyear-hi...his-1822200424

This longer article points out that the 2015 claim was from David Kurtz, an attorney who’s embroiled in an ongoing legal battle with Goodyear over the tire. Apparently he filed more motions in Jan 2018 which got this story back in the news recently. The Jalopnik reporter Ryan Felton is continuing to follow story with a report just this past Thursday:
https://jalopnik.com/goodyear-denies...ive-1825029843

From everything I've read this is limited to the larger tire sizes used on Class A motorhomes. Apparently there still might be some on the road, but with date codes from 2003 or earlier those users are really asking for trouble using over 15 year old tire.
