This longer article points out that the 2015 claim was from David Kurtz, an attorney who’s embroiled in an ongoing legal battle with Goodyear over the tire. Apparently he filed more motions in Jan 2018 which got this story back in the news recently. The Jalopnik reporter Ryan Felton is continuing to follow story with a report just this past Thursday:

From everything I've read this is limited to the larger tire sizes used on Class A motorhomes. Apparently there still might be some on the road, but with date codes from 2003 or earlier those users are really asking for trouble using over 15 year old tire.
