Has anyone had an issue trying to remove/unscrew the glycol tank cap? Both my wife & I have tried to unscrew*the cap to check the fluid level--the cap does turn but we can not get it off to check the fluid level. Any suggestions?

I assume you have Rixen system which should have similar cap to the one on my expansion tank, push the cap down and turn it counterclockwise. It is a standard radiator cap. You could add a level indicator like mine.

Is your complete Rixen system mounted in your engine compartment?

I don't have Rixen. I designed and built my water heating system based on Hydronic D5 mounted behind driver side front tire and marine water heater Isotemp mounted in front of driver side rear tire.

For space heating I use Airtronics D2.

I have a Rixen's system.
The expansion tank is mounted under the hood in the space where the Sprinter aux battery would go. The heater is underneath the van. The DHW and air heat exchangers are inside the vehicle, under cabinetry.

George you have more technical skills than I do. I am in the early planning stages of a Transit self build.

Avanti, I think Rixen install will be pushing my skills. Given the back orders of so many components not sure when I will order the Transit (3500, gas, awd, extended, high roof).
