question about sub flooring

hi, i am in process of putting in a new floor in my 1996 Rialta FD...have the carpet, padding, and old sub floor pulled out...need to put in a new sub floor..and was wondering for those who have done this ...what is the proper thickness for the sub floor...1/4''??? thanks



PS: possible flooring material: wood, vinyl or laminate...havent decided yet, so any feedback would be helpful...

We refloored our 99HD with laminate. I used 1/4" plywood to replace underlay boards I destroyed taking the old floor covering out. I used the very best underlay we could buy (it cost as much as the flooring) to get the moisture barrier, sound insulation, and temp insulation all in one layer.
