Problem with this generator. It starts and run with the start button held down and when you release it runs for five seconds and dies. Per the troubleshooting guild lines I have checked the oil pressure and high oil temp. they are okay. I even brought a new motor control board 168$ AND NO RETURNS still have a problem. the next step is the computer board which I can not find but will cost 300$ plus.....anyone has ideas or what could I replace it with.... 1996 model..thanks

id start by changing the fuel filter .....it sounds like it`is clogged ....

Hi Persy, so did you found out what was your problem ? my generator has the same issue,

Hi, Persy. I've had the same problem on my NP-30g. I've been told that it can be related to the low oil shut-off and/or another automatic shut-off which I cannot recall as I'm typing this to you.

With that said, if you go under the rig and remove the oil filter, you'll find tucked up inside of the housing the two wires that serve these shut-offs. Bearing in mind that the shut-offs are there for safety purposes, some people have successfully cut these wires (you need to cap them off), and solved the symptoms you describe.

Also, if you want to take Dan's advice (he's very knowledgeable) and check the fuel filter, all you need to do is remove it and see if you can blow a good strong flow of air through it with minimal effort. If you can NOT, then it's probably clogged.

If that's your problem, you're very lucky!

Good luck.

We had the same issue. We took the Rialta to camper dealer in NW IA and the mechanic tech had seen this a lot on the Rialta. Bad oil sensor so he just unhooked the wire to the sensor. Generator starts up fine, we just check the oil often now since there is no sensor.
