Anyone have any experience with Affinity RVs and what it might take to get them imported into the US?

This RV has a pretty different--and very cool--layout and features that you just don't see in the US outside of maybe Panoramic. Bunk beds, sleeps 4, L shaped kitchen, bed on a lifter to more storage and easy access to the garage. US RV mfrs are not doing these sort of clever designs:

Hi and Welcome to the Forums

You could contact the manufacturer and ask about US Dealers

self-importing makes you responsible for taxes/tariffs if applicable, emissions certifications and DOT certs like crash test, headlights, taillights and etc.

I've been in european RV's some aspects are superior
others...

Many of us have dreams of importing a European RV. As a class they are far more sophisticated than anything made in the US.

As a practical matter, importing a European vehicle for street use in the US is all but impossible, for the reasons mkguitar enumerates. The only real hope would be to attempt to acquire all the interior parts and have them installed in a US-spec'd version of the same van. This hope is slim.

The Alphavan, also from Europe, is another Class B that I think has some cool ideas that you just don't see from US manufacturers: elevating the bed so you can get a ton of usable space below it for a garage/storage space or for a bedroom for the kids.

Perhaps US van mfrs think Americans are too fat and lazy to climb up in a loft and they'd prefer converting a lounge to a bed and vice-versa two times each day.

Manufacturing of RVs in Europe are closer to automotive industry than in NA. Engineering content is high in designing and in manufacturing reflecting in good design and lower costs.

As long as folks in NA are willing to pay for camper vans for 2 stratospheric prices not much change is coming here.

I often see buyers justification for high prices, but but but – we have black tanks, but but but – we have Lithium, but but but – if you have to ask for price don’t buy it, but but but – it is difficult to manufacture inside a still chassis, but but but – B class is for maximum for 2, folks, often retires.

This is 5 years old video showing Adria manufacturing in Slovenia.

If you are surching a RV that are European look, but made in America with a very hight quality go to: panoramicrv.com made in canada on US chassis and available in the US the only thing you have to be patient. see ultramobility review on you tube

We are on the waiting list for a Panoramic. It is a long wait (Sept 2022!). We are looking forward to getting on the road. Have a good week.
