I am experiencing an issue with the Frigidaire window a/c unit installed in the back of my Xplorer. It turns on, the compressor kicks in and the emitted air is cold. I leave to do a few chores, return and it is blowing room temp air and the van is not cooled down.

I thought it might be a problem with inadequate electric supply as my shore power is a 20 amp circuit that has a 150' extension cord. However, the same thing happened at a campground last weekend when I was plugged in to a 30 amp line. Just for comparison sake, I turned on the 2.8 onan generator and ran that with similar results.

last winter it ran perfectly down in Florida plugged in to a 30 amp line.

The unit is not that old as the previous owner had replaced it somewhat recently. I tried contacting Frigidaire and they were unable to help troubleshoot.

Any ideas out there?

When the unit is no longer blowing cool air, is the compressor running? If you look in the back vent outside the van, are the baffles in place that keep the hot air blowing out the back of the air conditioner from reentering the side intake vents? If the previous owner replaced the unit, he may not have put the baffles back in or they may have vibrated out of place.
