15in Spare Tire Storage - Revisited

I was at the local dealer today and compared the factory tire storage with the older storage for the 14in Marathons. It appears that the only change is the L shaped bracket that is welded to the frame is now positioned about 5/8 to 3/4 inch lower and lines up with the lower edge of the frame. I currently carry my 14in Maxxi's in the bed of my truck.
I was thinking about repositioning the L bracket on my frame instead of the other methods discussed earlier. The bracket is tack-welded on the sides.

I would appreciate any comments from other owners. Is this feasible?

Certainly should be, as long as you can weld - or can have someone do it for you.

Thanks for the comment Bill. It seems that the other components are the same on 14 and 15 carriers.
Also, still happy with 09 F150 6-speed with 5.4.
