It was just a State Park in between where I was (Coeur d'Alene) and where I wanted to be (Boise). I like to visit State and National Parks along whatever route I'm taking, so I just picked one that was kinda halfway and made reservations.
I'll be doing the same route in September but this time I have reservations at Hell's Canyon State Park. You have to use ReserveAmerica.com or Recreation.gov for reservations. They have pictures of campsites and maps and you can also Google Earth the campground. At Winchester, I couldn't reserve a specific site but when I arrived, the host let me drive around and find one I liked.
