Pleasure-way Excel? If so it is built from a full bodied van, so would be a class B. The giveaway is having the original rear doors still there.
The Excel and the Roadtrek 210 from the 2000s to the present were commonly referred to as "wide body class"
I am trying to understand, with no success, why so much precious oxygen is being consumed over such a completely useless subject.
Because companies insist on calling 11'+ high x 8' wide x up to 32' long cab chassis (Class Cs) as Class Bs because maybe they don't have a cab over sleeping arrangement. So it is simpler and less confusing to stick with a Class B as originating from a van chassis. I think there is only one Class C on the current market under 24' and that is the big boxy Pleasure-way Plateau XL.I am trying to understand, with no success, why so much precious oxygen is being consumed over such a completely useless subject.

That's a search for what? Class Cs. The Gulfstream company has passed off its BT Cruiser series as Class Bs up to 32' with slides both sides and looking like a Class C. That's why I draw the line.
