Stat Surveys: Class B Retails Rose 22.5% in May 2010

Retail sales of Class B motorhomes rose 22.5% in May over May 2009, Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI) reported today (July 13).
It was the fifth straight month that Class B sales have improved on a year-over-year basis.
Kitchener, Ontario-based Roadtrek Inc. remained the clear leader in Class B sales with a 45.6% market share in May.
Winnebago Industries Inc. was second with a 20.6% market share, while another Canadian builder, Pleasure-Way Industries Ltd., was a close third with a 20% share.
Class B sales year-to-date are up 58.5% over 2009.
Year-to-date, Roadtrek is the leader with a 41.7% market share, followed by Pleasure-Way, 22%; Winnebago, 18.4%; and Thor Industries Inc., 13.3%.
The Class B market is small, compared to other motorized sales, with 2010 sales to date of less than 650 units.
