Interesting bit of news from Roadtrek's site:
Roadtrek Backs Up Automotive Manufacturers' Warranties
There has been much coverage in the media lately about the financial struggles of the Detroit 3 auto manufacturers (GM, Ford and Chrysler). The failure of any one of these will cause a domino effect of failures of numerous parts suppliers. Many of these supply other manufacturers whose assembly plants will also be shutdown. The impact on the broader economy will be unimaginable.
We strongly believe that the U.S. and Canadian governments will do whatever is necessary to ensure the survival of these crucial members to a healthy North American economy. A key ingredient to their long term survival, whatever form that takes (bailout, restructuring, pre-packaged bankruptcy, etc.) is the ongoing fulfillment of their warranty obligations. Without honoring their warranties to the consumer, they cannot survive.
Although we firmly believe they will survive with their warranties honored, not everyone may feel the same way. To give potential Roadtrek buyers piece-of-mind and remove a reason not to buy, effective on all new Roadtreks retail delivered from December 1, 2008 forward, we commit to provide an equivalent or better warranty to the warranties offered by GM and Chrysler in the event either one fails to honor their warranty. [Freightliner brand Sprinters are backed by Daimler AG (Mercedes-Benz) and therefore would not be affected.]
Some people may still be worried about the availability of parts and service. Given the millions of vehicles on the road from these manufacturers, there will definitely be service and parts facilities to satisfy the demand.
