Mark,

Enjoyed looking at the cabinets for the RoadTreks that are sold by mobil life, was wondering do they make them or do they buy them, also are the cabinets the same that are installed in the RoadTreks?

I guess if a person bought a stripped Van he/she could outfit it with the cabinets that are sold by mobil life.

Appreciate the information that you post.

Ron

Hi Ron,

From the info on their site I think they are custom made by Mobilife. They look really good in the photos.

I sent them an email asking for more info and photos. I'll post the info in their reply.

I think they are all removable; unlike the Armoire in yours and in my Roadtrek.

Photos:

Removeable Counter Cabinet
Fits all Chevy 190 model Roadtreks
Lots of extra storage space

3 Drawer Chest
Built for Dodge and Chevy model Roadtreks
3 extra drawers and counter top space

Removeable Wardrobe
Built for Dodge model vans
Extra shelving and/or hanging space

Mobilife replied very quickly to an email I sent. Here's their reply:

1. Yes, they are custom. Built using matching wood colour for the model year of the Roadtrek. All are removeable.

2. The Removable Counter cabinet fits all Chevy 190 models installed behind drivers seat.

The 3 Drawer Chest built for Dodge and Chevy 190 models fits behind Passenger seat.
The Removeable wardrobe for Dodge vans fits behind the passenger seat.
The New Chevy 210 has a removeable 3 drawer unit or a wardrobe available to fit behind passenger seat.

3. Yes, I do ship to the U.S. We are a Roadtrek dealer and familiar with installation.

They're going to send me some photos which I'll post as soon as I get them.

Mobilife sent the photos to me as promised. They also sent installation instructions on how to install the three drawer cabinet. It seems very easy to me.

Three drawer cabinet installation instructions.

To install the three drawer unit in the 190 Roadtreks you must:

1. Remove drawer under passenger side lounge, to do this you have to pull the drawer all the way out and use the releases on the drawer slides.

2. Next remove the seat base by taking the four screws out of the "L" brackets that go into the seat itself. (Leave the "L" brackets on the seat base.

3. Next set the three drawer unit on the seat and install screws back into the bottom of the cabinet. (A wood shim may need to be added to level cabinet)

4. Once the unit is screwed down you need to install two screws through the washroom wall and into the side of the cabinet.

5. Re-install the drawer and installation is complete.

Here are the photos:

These photos are reduced in size for the forum. I'd be happy to send the originals to anyone considering purchasing a cabinet. Send me a PM with your preferred email address if you want them.

Default Cabinets

The Mobilife Cabinets look very good, and they match them to your woodwork, to make them look like original equipment.
I wonder how heavy they are?
I know I wouldn't want that full length closet covering my window, and I think it would give a closed-in feeling.
That's just me, and my tuppence worth. (2 cents in Brit) Penny

We got one of their last cabinets for our Roadtrek 190 in 2009. They were getting forced out of the add on cabinets by Roadtrek who started refusing to sell them the lightweight plywood that they use and would match. As far as I know they have had anything to sell since then in the cabinet line.

I picked up the last of the removable wardrobes. They still have a couple drawer setups.

This is one of the contraband models made outside of Roadtrek's facility. I have not seen a real one. They do have a lot of real Roadtrek parts that they bought after the bankruptcy.
