Default Roadtrek Ecotrek and Voltstart

New topic to discuss Roadtrek's Ecotrek and Voltstart

Other topics with Ecotrek, volttrek & voltstart info:

http://www.classbforum.com/forums/f5...trek-3609.html

http://www.classbforum.com/forums/f5...ange-3789.html

and a bit here: http://www.classbforum.com/forums/f5...blog-3678.html

I think a new topic about Ecotrek and Voltstart will help make the info easier to find.

Are there any Ecotrek units out there that are working (not back at the dealer or factory for repairs)?

as you know i keep track of this.however i can only know from people who post on facebook.

I'm sure there are people who have it that don't post so we don't know.

I do know 2 people who have it that we don't know about.

one got an ecotrek 800 2 weeks ago and has not commented.

one picked his up yesterday.

other than those i know of no one who has not had issues that we know about

Bobby R. Jones who had posted some success in his re-start has now had total melt down and his zion has been back at dealer since last monday

Hal Callaway has just posted. he got ecotrek 800 yesterday.

He has gotten Voltrek to work.

it appears for voltrek to work no doors can be opened and hood can't be open.

Makes sense that doors and hood need to be closed for Voltrek to work. The engine is running, after all. And that's an invitation to bad guys.

hmm....4.5 hours and the 800ah pack was down low enough to engage engine start.

And how much extra $ was all this equipment to get that?

Does the key have to be in the ignition for voltrek to work? If not, having the doors closed doesn't make alot of sense unless the thought is to keep CO out of the cabin.

the key does not have to be in ignition. just like remote start doesn't. it's made really to restart for pets. don't be so negative;

i just post it -lol

it's the slider by the way that has to be closed. front doors can still open

The Onan autostart has a provision that it will over-ride autostart if the vehicle hasn't been moved recently. The thought is you don't want it to start inside a storage garage.

I wonder if Voltrek has a similar provision.

4.5 hours sounds about right for a Ecotrek 800.

800 amp hrs x 0.9 percent discharge x 12 volts / 2000 watts = 4.32 hours

Why would anyone think that it should last much longer than this before engine start, wincrasher?

Has anyone determined if Voltrek uses anything in the Sprinter beyond the normal remote start feature which may only work with all the doors closed as part of it's normal operation?

Well, the air conditioner should be no-where near 2000 watts constant.

It should be 1200-1400 watts continuous for around 30 mins per hour. So I'd expect a much longer run time. Could be he ran it on full so there was no hope of it cycling, but it still wouldn't hit 2000 watts.

Hal amended his stuff. only the sliding door of his sprinter has to be closed. the front doors can still open

Maybe it's because I've eaten about 1/2 the Halloween candy and we still have 2 weeks to go.

Wincrasher, He had the thermostat set to 55 degrees so I expect the AC was running near full blast the whole time and how positive are you that you know what model AC it is and how many watts it uses?

I was taking a wag since I don't know those numbers but feel free to be more precise if it fulfills your need to be negative about all things Roadtrek...
